The Indulgence series features actress Ana Mulvoy-Ten
Famed photographer Tyler Shields is based in Los Angeles and has shot a lot of celebrities (Lindsay Lohan, Zach Quinto, Mischa Barton, Emma Roberts), and also a lot of personal projects, in which he explores dark and edgy themes. His latest is Indulgence, a series of more playful photos showing how high-end brands have taken over our lives through its ubiquity and utility.
“The idea behind Indulgence was to see high end branding through the eyes of everyday products, consumerism at its finest. In the future everything will be high end,” Shields says.
Though Shields’ photographs are usually controversial, this is a more light-hearted approach to social commentary.
A crocodile Vs Birkin bag, a joke within a joke.
His work is sold at art galleries, bookstores and online as well.
It poses the question: “Are we consuming the brands, or are the brands consuming us?”
Shields says his photographs are never Photoshopped, which gives it a kind of urgent WTF quality.
