A selection of prints by the late, great Richard Avedon fetched $7.5 million at a recent Christie’s auction in Paris.
Leading the way was a large photograph of model Dovima posing with elephants at a circus. It was taken in 1955 and sold for $1.15 million.
Other highlights included a multi-coloured Beatles shot from 1967 which raked in $608,000, a semi-nude photograph of model Stephanie Seymour and shots of Marilyn Monroe and Rudolf Nureyev.
The auction raised money for the Richard Avedon Foundation.
