Art lovers congregated at Landmark Hong Kong on May 9, as the shopping mecca joined hands with Opera Gallery to mark the official launch of two Le French May exhibitions, Cecile Bart: Mobile and In the Public Eye
Those spotted mingling amid the various sculptures included Consul General of France in Hong Kong Arnaud Barthelemy, Chairman of the Board of Le French May Mrs. Safia Okotore, Bart, Director of Opera Gallery Shirley Yablonsky, Executive Director of Commercial Property, Hongkong Land Raymond Chow, Executive Director of Projects, Hongkong Land James Robinson, Le French May director Andrew Yuen, Alan Chan, Michelle Cheng-Chan, Chitra Chellaram, Mahesh Chellaram, Manoj Chellaram, Manolo Chellaram, Charlotte Chen, Olivia Lee-Davies, Bonnie Gokson, Vivian Hu, Stephen Hung, Reggie Kwok, Ronald Kwok, William Tang and Yolanda Choy-Tang.
Offerings from In the Public Eye Range spans a century, from Auguste Rodin’s “The Thinker” (cast posthumously) and Salvador Dali’s “Triumphant Elephant” (cast posthumously) to Robert Indiana’s “LOVE” sculpture and David Mach’s “Wild Thing”.
Meanwhile, Bart’s site-specific installation, whereby a series of translucent canvas are strung up with wires, explores the relationship between art, its surroundings, and the viewers.
