Ash Eroded Reel to Reel – Volcanic ash, shattered glass and hydrostone
Espace Louis Vuitton Singapore and the School of the Arts (SOTA) in Singapore, have collaborated on a unique body of work that showcases the works of American contemporary artist, Daniel Arsham. Held at Espace Louis Vuitton Singapore, #YesterdaysFutures (Part 1) features sculptural artworks by Daniel Arsham. These sculptures are everyday objects recreated in sand and plaster as decayed replicas; to give them the appearance of archaeological objects unearthed in the future.
The gallery at Espace Louis Vuitton Singapore also features similar sculptures by students from SOTA. Daniel Arsham worked with the students imparting knowledge and providing them with his unique point of view. Aside from the sculptural art on display, the gallery includes a selection of the artist’s Easter Island drawings that were features in Louis Vuitton’s “Travel Book” collection. The drawings depict the world renowned Moai statues and quotidian scenes of the island’s town and people.
“Easter Island is one of the most unique locations on the planet and it was such a privilege to spend time there to create a personal interpretation of the this amazing phenomenon…Thanks to my collaboration with Louis Vuitton, I am thrilled to be able to share that experience through my original paintings with audiences in Singapore in another unique location – Espace Louis Vuitton Singapore.” said Daniel Arsham.
