Charles and Ray Eames probably were to modern furniture and architecture, what the Beatles were to music. Making head-turning contributions to furniture for nearly 60 years, the American designers’ most popular piece is most definitely the Eames Lounge Chair. It has a distinctive design which combines sleek leather against a wooden base.
Swiss contemporary furniture design and manufacturing company, Vitra, has given the Eames Lounge Chair a slight makeover. Instead of the usual and distinct wood veneer, Vitra has used black ash shells as a base for the lounge chair and ottoman. The Eames Black Ash Lounge Chair & Ottoman is refreshingly different from what most folks are accustomed to. Put together using deep black leather, black aluminium and black ash shells it will make an awesome addition to any office or home. Black is always “the new sexy”.
The price is yet to be announced. Unless you live in Switzerland, you’ll have to make arrangements for it to be shipped over, as it will only be sold through Vitra.
