Head down to the Singapore Botanic Gardens for a day spent amidst greenery and camera-ready monolithic sculptures, courtesy of Sotheby’s and famed artist Zadok Ben-David.
Seventeen works by the award-winning international sculptor will be cleverly integrated into the verdant vegetation of the sprawling garden, with twelve of them being specially created by the artist.
Fittingly, nature figures prominently in the new sculptures, with tree and butterfly motifs melding seamlessly into the outdoor landscape. Made of weathering steel, the sculptures will rust and form a metallic “patina” as they age.
The launch commenced with a most informative media tour of the sculptures, who had the privilege of being guided through the pieces by the artist himself, followed by an evening VIP cocktail reception hosted by Sotheby’s management, a shimmering soiree in a picturesque setting that was thronged with over 200 of the Singapore community’s most prominent art collectors, investors and business partners.
Admission is free, from 5 am to 12 midnight daily.
