En route to the centre of the earth with Voyages in the Mist
Earlier In March, Singapore played host to its first ever Cocktail Week, an exciting festival celebrating the country’s local bar scene. As presenting partner of the inaugural event, William Grant & Sons (WGS) brought ten international bartenders to Singapore for a variety of workshops and guest shifts. Together with Regional Portfolio Ambassador Zachary Connor de Git, they also hosted a string of cocktail tours with participating bars, demonstrating the dynamic and evolving nature of the sunny island’s bar industry.
In addition to the line-up of renowned bartenders, WGS also hosted a series of pop-ups at participating bars throughout the week. Starting the week off at Oxwell & Co was Voyages in the Mist, a curious contraption by Hendrick’s Gin which took guests on a multi-sensory journey to the scented centre of the earth. Under the good care of Hendrick’s Gin Global Brand Ambassador David Piper, guests were guided on their expedition whilst enjoying delightful Hendrick’s and Tonic vapour.
Monkey Shoulder Global Brand Ambassador Dean Callan kicked things up a notch with his Whisky Appreciation shenanigans at The Refinery and L’Aiglon. Amusing the crowd with his rambunctious actions and quirks, Dean served up bespoke cocktails tailored to each guests’ tastes and preferences. In addition, Dean and Zachary also got up to some serious monkey business with the Ultimate Bartender Challenge – a series of challenges that tested bartenders – both international and local – of their knowledge on the front and back of house procedures required to run their own bar.
Sailor Jerry also took part in the festivities with a “takeover” of Bar Naked. Guests were treated to tasty signature Sailor Jerry cocktails such as Jerry Loves Ginger, Aloha Yuzu and Southside Sailor. For those looking to have something more permanent to remind them of the awesome week, Sailor Jerry’s pop-up tattoo parlour was also on site to ink guests with one of its namesake’s iconic flash tattoos.
