Awarded “Destination Resort of the Year” at the AsiaSpa Awards 2015, Nihiwatu is a luxury resort and elite member of The Leading Hotels of the World. Located on Sumba Island in Eastern Indonesia, 400 km from Bali, the island is renowned for the natural beauty of its remote location. Aside from its Mamole Tree House experience and Valentine’s romance package, Nihiwatu now offers an ‘On the Edge of Wildness’ experience which extends to its newly launched Nihi Oka Spa Safari in which couples can enjoy an unlimited number of pre-selected treatments amidst uninterrupted views of the sea and abundant surrounding rice fields.

Inspired by Owner of Nihi, Chris Burch’s love for massages and Managing Partner, James McBride’s time inAfrica, the Nihi Oka Spa Safari is an exotic, non-traditional spa that promises excitement and adventure, encouraging guests to connect with nature and be spiritually free. The journey begins with an open-air land safari vehicle or invigorating 90-minute trek journeying across Sumba’s dramatic west coast to nearby Nihi Oka valley through the rolling hills and cultural villages.

Upon arrival, guests have the option to enjoy a bush-cooked meal in the rustic Nihi Oka treehouse platform. Breakfast includes freshly pressed juices and healthy cuisines. After breakfast, couples can relax in their own private bale with dedicated spa therapists providing any number of spa treatments from full body massage, cooling and rejuvenating wraps, body scrubs to foot reflexology using natural and local ingredients. In between treatments, guests can spend a day amongst white sands, coconut trees and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean or infinity freshwater pool.

Nihiwatu extends a rate of USD650++ per room, per night during January and February 2016, including full board accommodation, Wi-Fi internet, mini-bar, daily excursions and activities on land, non-motorized sea activities, scheduled group yoga and meditation classes at the Yoga Pavilion. Rates are based on a minimum 3-night stay in an entry-level villa. Garuda Indonesia currently operates a daily flight from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport to Sumba Island.
