Luxottica Group, the global leader in premium and wand luxury eyewear, is pleased to announce the launch of an exciting collaboration with photographer, blogger and founder of The Sartorialist, Scott Schuman. The new digital project entitled “Faces by The Sartorialist” launches today on www.facesbythesartorialist.com and on Instagram @facesbythesartorialist.
The project will feature Scott Schuman’s signature imagery of intriguing and stylish individuals donning Luxottica eyewear
in the world’s most fashionable cities from New York to Milan, Rio de Janeiro and Shanghai to Paris.
In recent years optical eyewear has shifted from a practical necessity to an essential accessory that can define an individual’s style and personality. Schuman’s photographic blog, The Sartorialist, launched in 2005, was the first of its kind to capture the world of style in a more everyday context, natural and spontaneous. Schuman took fashion out of its rarefied world and made it accessible to a broader audience than ever imaginable. Ultimately creating a global dialogue amongst trend savvy people with a strong aesthetic.
Through his lens Schuman will reveal people’s unique style specifically in regards to their choice of eyewear. While on his travels to fashion’s global epicenters, Schuman will keep a particular eye out for men and women who wear their eyeglasses with unusual flair. Schuman’s photographs will be posted several times weekly to the “Faces by The Sartorialist” site and Instagram feed. A range of eyewear styles will be featured in the photographs with direct links to brand websites to facilitate further browsing. Users will also be able to “like” the photographs and to share them via social network.
“Eyeglasses are a fascinating accessory. They can both reveal and transform a person” said Scott Schuman, “I’ve noticed people have become much bolder in their choice of eyewear as a fashion accessory. It’s exciting to have this opportunity to capture the real essence of eyeglasses with Luxottica”.
Luxottica Group’s Chief Marketing Officer Fabio D’Angelantonio comments, “We are thrilled to be working with Scott Schuman on the ‘Faces By The Sartorialst’ project. Scott has a unique and intuitive eye, and we look forward to seeing the characters he will undoubtedly discover for this project highlighting new styles and trends from all over the world.”
