Mid last December, Bollywood royalty, film enthusiasts and other luminaries walked down the red carpet as British Airways hosted ‘Silent Picturehouse’, a film extravaganza celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema. The three day event was hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai from December 16 – 18. The celebrations culminated in a gala event on the December 18, which was attended by some of the most prominent names in the Bollywood film fraternity, including Karan Johar who hosted the gala night, Arjun Rampal, Malaika Arora Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Mandira Bedi, Chitrangda Singh and Minissha Lamba.
“India is one of our most significant markets and we take pride in being a part of the celebrations of completing 100 years of Indian cinema by bringing ‘Silent Picturehouse’ for the first time to Mumbai. We at British Airways, just like the Indian cinema are constantly redefining, innovating and introducing an array of new initiatives to showcase our drive towards customer gratification. “Silent Picturehouse has truly been a unique opportunity for everyone here tonight to have had an on-board experience whilst enjoying our unparalleled in-flight entertainment and delectable menu options from the comfort of their seat. This has been a truly exciting night for us and we do hope that our customers have had an extremely enjoyable experience.” said British Airways Regional Commercial Manager for South Asia, Christopher Fordyce.
The event saw screenings of Bollywood blockbuster films on three different screens. The audience tuned in to pre-selected movies of their choice by using wireless headphones, recreating the in-flight entertainment experience. The evening later took the celebrations to the sky for the highest tea party in Mumbai – the ‘Silent Disco’ after-party was held at the AER Lounge at Four Seasons Hotel.
