Luxury Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet, the official timekeeper for the Barclays Singapore Open 2009, sponsored an exclusive Royal Oak Skeleton Perpetual Calendar watch in yellow gold worth SGD165,000 for a Hole-In-One prize at the 14th Hole for this year’s Barclays Singapore Open.

The horological features of this exceptional timepiece include the perpetual calendar and of course the skeletonized movement.

Audemars Piguet is no stranger to the golfing scene. Having sponsored and participated in numerous world-class golf tournaments, the firm has established a fine reputation for itself in the golfing circle with its team of golf ambassadors.

“As a brand associated with golf, Audemars Piguet has the largest family of golfing ambassadors. We have close to 20 members in the elite golfing family. Each golfer is unique in his / her own manner and carrying the same passion and excellence in golf as we do in our watchmaking,” said Oliviero Bottinelli, the Managing Director of Audemars Piguet Asia.

This year’s Barclays Singapore Open holds special meaning for Audemars Piguet as this is the first time the tournament has been co-sanctioned by both the European Tour and the Asian Tour, featuring an even larger stellar contingent.

First-timers Graeme McDowell and Thomas Levet even garnered fifth and ninth positions respectively. This particular tournament is also the richest national open in Asia with an unprecedented purse of USD5 million.
