The world’s most expensive beer has been produced in Perth, Australia and is made from Antarctic ice.
Dubbed ‘Antarctic Nail Ale’, when the brew recently went to auction it fetched up to $800/bottle with proceeds going towards the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
The ice was extracted from Antarctica in one of the society’s famous direct action campaigns against whaling. Such is the age of the ice used in the beer (and the beverage consists of 90% water) you could probably call it the oldest beer in the world too.
It was brewed at the Nail Brewing headquarters at Edith Cowan University in Perth.
