The Twitter Experience hotel aims to create a new experience for guests, using social media to encourage guests to mingle with a diverse range of people and allowing them to connect with the hashtag ‘#SocialWave’. The hotel’s general manager, Gonzalo Echevarria explained, “The hotel takes a new step in meeting the expectations of an increasingly experiential and social customer profile, through new technologies.”
Guests first check in, where they are given access to an exclusive Twitter app, which is only available through the hotel’s wi-fi network. Twitter Concierge’s will greet guests via Twitter, or they can use the hashtag to check-in. You can also tweet at other guests, to send them private messages, share photos, see who is online or send a “virtual kiss” to someone you fancy, all using the hashtag.
The newly-launched Twitter Party Suites, fit four people, who then get a free drink at Friday’s Twitter Pool party, a bottle of cava, snacks, VIP sunbeds or hammocks and a customizable mini bar. Hate running out of snickers bars? Tweet #fillmyfridge and your fridge will be filled with what you desire! The rooms took on a Twitter-inspired blue and white theme, and provide cute Twitter-themed snacks and drinks, such as blue licorice designed in a hashtag, or a blue mojito.
People who aren’t fans of virtual interaction can partake in the 184-room hotel’s other offerings; such as beach or water sports, music, parties, or can try their hand at flowboarding, a cross between surfing and snowboarding, in the hotel’s exclusive wave pool, designed especially for the sport.
