In an exclusive interview with the Miss World Australia contestant, we bring to you the alluring, multifaceted and talented Chandrika Ravi, with an extensive modelling, dancing and acting career, she draws men in like honey to bees.
What would you like our readers to know about you?
Underneath the “glamor” and the picture people can create, I am actually a really big softie who has a huge love for children, religion, culture and the arts. I love to sit on the couch with no make up on and my PJ’s watching romantic comedies with a huge tub of ice-cream! I’m a perfectionist who hates being disappointed.
I’m the kind of girl who is in love with being in love and believes in fairytale endings.
What are some of your personal beauty tips & regimes?
Always take off your makeup. I strongly believe in drinking A LOT of water, getting enough rest (although I don’t always get to) and always taking care of your health.
I don’t really use many beauty products, but if and when I do, I always ensure they are natural products. You should try it; your skin will love you for it! With regards to exercise, I’m hopeless, so dancing does it for me!
What or Who are your biggest fashion influences?
Being Indian, I take a lot my style inspirations from Indian beauties like BipashaBasu and Deepika Padukone. Also having grown up listening to R&B and Hip Hop music, my style has also been heavily influenced by people like Ciara, Keri Hilson, Beyonce and other urban beauties.
Not to forget Tyra Banks and Kim Kardashian! But if you were to ask anyone what they know me for, it’d be for bling (lots of it), always wearing heels and always being dressed up!
With your experience from living abroad, how would you rate Singaporean’s Fashion sense against places like Australia?
Singapore has SO much style! It is probably the only place I have lived in that I really don’t see people conforming to the usual fashion trends! People dare to be different and I love that, because even I am afraid to try new trends sometimes!
Being trained from the age of 3 in dance styles from Ballet, Jazz & Contemporary to classical Indian styles of Bollywood & BharathaNatyam. Which would be your most favorite Dancing style?
I love all styles I have learnt especially since I have been dancing since I was 3. Indian dancing is my true love especially because I was born in Australia and still managed to keep the “fire” burning, but Hip Hop and jazz would probably take the cake because I love how much of self-expression goes into it! Plus I love the music!
What turns you on, gets your heart racing and makes you weak in the knees?
A tall, dark, handsome man who smells good and dresses well and has his ears pierced. And is able to stimulate me mentally, make me laugh and is a good cuddlier!
I do It when nobodies watching. What is it?
Check my reflection out when possible. Actually I do it all the time!!!
What was the most outrageous thing you have ever done?
I’ve done a lot of outrageous things, but deciding to pack up and leave home a week before leaving to pursue my dreams twice now definitely tops the list! Follow your dreams everyone!
What was it, you did overseas that you would never do back in Singapore?
Haha! There are A LOT of things that come to mind right now given that Singaporean laws are very strict!!! Almost all of which I don’t think I can even mention!
From all your performing and acting experience gained over the years what was your most memorable moment?
Being able to perform around the world has definitely been a huge accomplishment but dancing and acting in front of an audience of over 15,000 people in Australia for the Swan Festival of Lights in Perth is definitely a huge milestone in my career!
IF you were asked to act in a role that required you to strip down to nothing but a pear of crystal earrings to be accompanied by another naked leading actress in a making out scene, what would be your response?
Is the girl goodlooking? Haha! Really depends on the script and the situation really. I am very weary of roles I undertake and I wouldn’t really strip down or compromise for just anything. The body is a special thing and that is something that can never be taken back!
I could do It All Day & All Night Long. What would this be?
Perform, be on stage, cuddle, eat. In that order of preference.
What would you not be caught dead doing?
Ever letting anyone hold me back or make me compromise my dreams! As cheesy at it sounds, I would never have gotten as far as I have in my career if I ever took peoples negativity to heart and not followed what I thought was best for me!
