As couturiers, the duo from Vatit Itthi is hell-bent on evoking classical evening gowns with a tint of Thai modernity. The first surprise of their enchanting line-up at Fide Fashion week 2013 emerges from the slightest embellishments. The designers’ sleek update on the hemline with a dash of Thai brocades is particularly stunning.
To Vatit Itthi, couture is not only for formalities, but a lifestyle their distinguished customers would immerse in. With splashes of orange blooms trailing from dresses, Vatit Itthi teases the viewer with a floral cornucopia bursting from the seams. God is in the details, and these utterly divine dresses do not fail to deliver. The minute pleasure of spotting the finer appliques is a rewarding experience.
There were other sublime pieces: generous use of lush fabrics matched with organza spells out luxury with a capital “L”. Vatit Itthi established this collection with an almost clinical undercurrent; but does not detract customers with a dogmatic approach to luxury. Silhouettes are kept clean and relevant for the modern women – Thai or otherwise. The thoughtful presentation religiously maintains accessibility; and it’s the mastery of controlled exuberance that’s a real wonder to any observer.
