One of our favorite jewelers, Carrera y Carrera, has unveiled yet another exquisite collection of fine jewelry. Christened ‘Sierpes’, the collection is inspired by (and named after) one of the most iconic streets in Seville. The collection that includes rings, earrings and pendants, mimics Sierpes Street’s sinuous shape that mimics the movement of the Manila shawl’s fringe. Each piece in the collection boasts intricate lattices that imitate the openwork of shawls, simulating the threads of silk that entangle to create embroidered frames.
The Sierpes collection, presents the distinct and different stages of the shawl; a stage where the principal motif is flower; a geometric stage with a relief featuring lattices; and a more theatrical pieces featuring links with almost fluid-like movement, as if they were swaying fringe. You won’t have to look so hard to appreciate the painstaking work of the fringe as it’s reflected in the meticulous craftsmanship of the jewels that are created by hand, detail by detail.
