Ristorante Amarone is proud to bring Paolo Basso to Singapore for the first time to host a special wine masterclass on August 25 and a series of wine appreciation dinners on August 27 and 28.
Crowned “Best Sommelier of the World” in 2013 by The Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (A.S.I.), Basso is the holder of the world’s best sommelier title until the triennial competition is held again in 2016. Organised by the Ristorante Amarone, the events provide a rare opportunity for guests to get up close and personal with Basso, one of the world’s leading wine experts. An exclusive Maybank Private Wealth/Credit Card joint event will also be held in conjunction with Ristorante Amarone during Basso’s visit.
Immerse in the fine art of wine appreciation alongside Basso at this highly anticipated dinner held at Ristorante Amarone. The Italian-born, Swiss-based wine virtuoso is one of only five sommeliers in the world to have won both the European and global titles for “Best Sommelier”. World renowned for his extraordinary palate and experience in the field of rare and collectible wines, Basso is one of only a handful of oenology experts to have reached the final level of international competitions eight times throughout his career.
At the exclusive dinner, Basso will present a selection of handpicked vintages paired with a special menu designed by the guest chef of the evening, Davide Maci of The Market Place Restaurant in Como, Italy. Chef Maci will present a simple but sophisticated six-course dinner focusing on light and delicate creations to complement Basso’s selection of wines. A highlight of the dinner will be the opportunity to taste Basso’s own red wine, Il Rosso di Chiara, which he produces in southern Switzerland as a tribute to his beloved daughter and her flamboyant red hair. This will be the first time the vintage is available in Singapore.
