While Miley Cyrus’ new Marc Jacobs campaign seems to have some polarizing reactions, one person who didn’t want to work with the “Wrecking Ball” singer is photographer Juergen Teller. The German creative has shot Marc Jacobs’ campaigns since the late 90s, and you may have noticed that the new spring 2014 advertisements were lensed by David Sims.

Jacobs told WWD, “I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist..He just didn’t want to shoot her.” The American designer goes on to praise Cyrus though. “We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything.”

That’s certainly something to mull over. And while you’re thinking, check out these newly released images from Miley’s ads. However, Teller still shot the spring campaign for the Marc by Marc Jacobs line.
