The limited edition Crealto

This Fall, Nespresso presents not one, but three creations to tantalize taste-buds: the limited edition Crealto capsules, the ultra-sleek U and a limited edition Nespresso Recipe Book, exclusive to the brand’s VIP members.

Dreamt up by Nepresso Green Coffee specialist Alexis Rodriquez, the limited edition Crealto capsule was inspired by Michelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco’s slow-cooking philosophy. Intense roasting at low temperatures gives it a rounded nuttiness, deeming it the perfect complement to Autumn desserts such as apple crumbles or sticky toffee pudding. With an intensity of 8 on Nespresso’s 1-10 scale, Crealto is best served as an espresso.

We’re also hankering after the minimalist and ultra-sleek U machine. Featuring a tactile interface that memorizes your favourite cup length including ristretto, espresso and lungo, U has a quick heat up time of 25 seconds. Just pop your capsule du jour into the slot and your coffee will begin to brew automatically.

The environmentally-conscious will also be delighted to find that its body is made from over 30% of recycled materials and is programmed to switch off automatically after nine minutes of inactivity. U is available in four colours: cream, black, grey and our all-time favourite, a snazzy orange.

Available only to the brand’s VIP members, the limited edition Nespresso recipe book is packed with 30 tantalizing recipes from the likes of Bo Innovation’s Alvin Leung, Gold’s Harlan Goldstein and Cepage’s Sebastien Lepinoy.

We had the opportunity to sample some of these dishes at an exclusive media tasting in Hong Kong. While all five dishes were packed with flavours, the Indriya black cod – marinated in coffee for 48 hours, we’re told – was easily our favourite.  We also lapped up on a sinful Classic Tiramisu, featuring espresso-soaked biscuits, interspersed with fluffy mascarpone and topped up with a powdery bed of cocoa.

Other mouth-watering recipes in the book include the Coffee Rice Burger, Cantonese Style Roasted Lamb Rack (who would have thought?) and a most curious-looking Decaffeinato Intense Jelly.
