For the coming season, French luxury menswear brand Berluti takes its cue from the traditional Japanese art of origami to create a cool new addition to its collection of leather goods. The Origami bag combines the craftsmanship, beautiful leather and innovative techniques that the brand is known for: Firstly, it’s made using folds, which translates to minimal cutting, sewing and linings, and a certain lightness.

Crafted from soft calfskin that has been treated so it has the softness of nappa leather and nubuck, the bag — which comes with detachable straps — can also be worn in different ways. Carry it like a tote or use it like a backpack, and when you’re done, just fold it up and stash it away. It all makes for one nifty accessory, especially for frequent travellers who always return with excess baggage.

The Origami bag comes in light brown, olive or dark brown, and will be available in Berluti stores from 15 Feb 2015.
