Gordon Ramsay‘s fortunes continue to slide having announced the closure of his Maze Cape Town restaurant after only 15 months of business.
The One & Only Hotel (which provided the platform for the restaurant) said: “We can confirm that Gordon Ramsay Holdings Ltd.’s engagement as a consultant to One & Only Cape Town has terminated.
“The restaurant at One & Only Cape Town no longer trades under the Maze brand.” It gave no reason for the decision.”
After a rapid period of international expansion, the chef’s company Gordon Ramsay Holdings Ltd faced bankruptcy in 2008. As a result they had to take a step back from managing restaurants and instead switched to operating restaurants on a consultancy basis.
Despite his troubles as a restauranteur, he has just embarked on a new U.S. show, the American spin-off of “Masterchef”.
