On July 2, Beam Global Asia presented the award winning Glenrothes Single Cask 1970 #10573 in Singapore. Distilled on July 6 1970, it yielded just 179 bottles. There are only 10 bottles in Asia. The private event was held at the stately black-and-white bungalow of Nosh Restaurant and Bar. The invitation-only event gave about 200 guests the privilege to experience the different decades of Glenrothes’ vintage, starting from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Different rooms Nosh Restaurant and Bar were creatively transformed to express the unique characteristics of the different whiskey vintages. One of the rooms had a black-and-white movie screening from the 1970s. Further wowing the guests, was the 1970s vintage itself, which was presented as a delightful 1970s whiskey-infused ice kachang (a local dessert similar to an ice-cone). The experience continued with a Glenrothes history wall that charted the Speyside distillery’s milestones and achievements, that served as the backdrop for the vintages from the 1990s, while The Library featured the New Vintage 2001.
The highlight of the evening was when Ronnie Cox, Glenrothes’ Heritage Director, shared some finer points on whiskey appreciation before presenting every guest with a glass of the 1988 whiskey. He also presented a bottle of The Glenrothes Vintage 1988 Whiskey to the winner of the Best Vintage Dressed Award for the Vintage Evening.
