The hotly-anticipated Masterpieces of Time IV opened at The Venetian Macao on December 8, 2012 by DFS Group. 400 watches from 32 brands were showcased, many of which came from independent and niche brands. Luxury-insider was invited to participate in the special media programme on December 7-8.
A watch forum, hosted and mediated by DFS Group President of Merchandising Harold Brooks, offered insights into the world of watch collecting and investment.
After the forum, we were soon ushered into the DFS Galleria Macau hall, where DFS Group Region President in Asia North Benjamin Vuchot gave a tour of the recently-inaugurated Luxury & Watchmaker Boutique Halls. Highlights of the exhibition included The Luminor 1950 Tourbillion GMT Ceramica by Officine Panerai, the H. Moer & Cie Moser Perpetual Golden Edition, the 051 Phoenix Tourbillon by Richard Mille, the result of a collaboration between the brand and actress Michelle Yeoh, Vacheron Constantin Perpetual Calendar, which requires no correction until 2100 and – especially pertinent for customers in this part of the world – the IWC Portuguese Dragon Year Edition.

The Salon deserves special mention both on account of its novelty and the range of vintage and rare timepieces it houses. Clad in black and white strips and decorated with sleek bell jars, the space plays host to an assortment of vintage timepieces from the houses of Rolex and Patek Philippe, and some of the world’s most sought-after independent watchmakers including Christophe Claret, H. Moser & Cie, Laurent Ferrier and Richard Mille.
“The collection for this year’s Masterpieces of Time represents some of the highest achievements in Haute Horlogerie complications, design and use of innovative materials and jewelry,” Brooks said. “We are very excited to welcome our guests from across Asia as they come to the DFS Galleria Macao to witness the magnificence of these exceptional timepieces.”
The exhibition runs until February 28, 2013.
