On a convivial night at the plush East Garden Foyer of the Fullerton Hotel, friends and supporters of the arts in Singapore gathered to admire the latest works from emerging local artist Adeline Yeo, who will be auctioning off one of her paintings for charity.
The exhibit, “Beautiful Love 2012: A Love Story by Adeline Yeo”, is part of the Fullerton’s Arts in the City Programme, and will showcase a collection of fifteen exquisite finger-painted artwork to celebrate February, the month most closely associated with love and philanthropy.
The self-taught artist has pledged all of the proceeds from the silent auction piece, ‘Bedtime Stories’, as well as half of the proceeds from the sale of the remaining fourteen paintings to the Duke-NUS Pediatric Research Fund, a non-endowed research fund that furthers scientific study into various childhood medical ailments.
The artist’s generosity and kindness are part of the DNA of her artwork. Commenting on her growing oeuvre of vibrantly hued paintings, Adeline Yeo said: “Art doesn’t always have to be dark and sombre. I simply believe that the power to change the world through art is a beautiful thing, and this collection is really a celebration of life, growth and resurrection through my use of colours and nature.”
