The only way to get by an excruciatingly long, hard year is to prepare some “me time” in the sun, and clamour for the hope of getting there soon. But preferably not somewhere conquered by the hordes of everyday tourists or where you risk the embarrassment of being predictably safe, and boring. So we got down on things and made our way to the latest resort offering from Phuket’s pristine East Coast beaches (right across Maprao Island) – BB Phuket.
Instead of bustling beach lodges, we landed ourselves in the exclusive opening party to commemorate the beginning and transformation of a ho-hum week to an invigorating lux retreat in one of Phuket’s finest. Marked as “beauty through metamorphosis”, we bear witness to the release of 2,000 butterflies at one of the island’s most secluded spots – a culmination of our two days stay. From excellent serves of delectable cuisine to raving performance art, these sandy stretches are all about savouring life’s best while unwinding.
Celebrities from Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand and across the region flew down to celebrate BB Phuket’s launch party, ‘A life Less Ordinary’ with an eclectic mix of performers. Ibiza DJ Andy Carroll dropping the bass, floating aerialists and trapeze artists contributed to the night’s theme (a revisit into the 1930’s Weimar Cabaret Style). Yet. Chef Jeremy Tourret from the Jo’Ha Restaurant was able to translate this sentiment onto his menu – it’s hard not to fall for his intriguing take on Asian cuisine.
Whether you’re in desperate need of a vacation or simply the well-travelled individual, BB Phuket offers an anonymity on this untouched East Coast stretch. The accommodations are just as generous, as if opulence wasn’t a daunting idea; each customised unit has a signature motif and overall theme that one might sit back and admire. It’s thoughtful curation of art pieces may just take your breath away.
To marry art and nature, world-renowned Belgian artist Arne Quinze had created personal sculptures as door gifts. Installations surrounding BB have adopted organic materials as part of the composition – leaving us with a unique cycle of experiences every day. Lucky for us: nowhere else in Phuket could you unearth a bountiful stash of treats for the eyes. It was during a night walk passed these walls did I notice the calculated, flickering LED lights – a thumbs up for the world where imagination brings about change, for the better.

About Beach Projects Development Co., Ltd.
It was almost 20 years ago when Johan Hansen started on his path as a real estate professional in Brussels, Belgium. To this day, he remembers his first steps in the property business, driving thousands of kilometers to assist his first customers, closing his first deals. He believes that it’s his philosophy of “1% of inspiration and 99% of perspiration,” that brought him his first successes.
Over the years, Hansen’s company became one of the biggest private real estate development companies in Belgium and in 2005 it was renamed Skyline Projects as it expanded operations to other European countries and in the end – to Asia, a place Hansen fell in love with and made his home. In 2012 Hansen established the Beach Projects investment group. The dazzling BB Phuket is the group’s first development in Asia. Please visit www.beachprojects.com
