British accessories designer Anya Hindmarch visited Buckingham Palace 2 June 2009 to receive the Member of the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.
“Such a fantastic honor and a really special experience. It made me feel so proud to be British!” said Hindmarch. She was awarded the MBE for her contribution to the British fashion industry, which includes the now-famous I’m Not a Plastic Bag stunt.
