Leading man and ‘300’ action star Gerard Butler has been tapped as Geneva-based fine watchmaker Roger Dubuis‘ latest ambassador, a move that will solidify the passionate, hard-hitting reputations of both watch manufacture and actor.

Recently given a tour of Roger Dubuis’ Swiss headquarters, the Scottish star was suitably “blown away” – his words – by the precision watchmaking on display. Butler was given a step-by-step walk-through of the in-house production process, and ended his visit by admiring the showcase timepieces, which included his personal favourites, the Warrior range from the Excalibur collection.

Commenting on the tie-up between the two, Butler said: “Watchmaking is just like the cinema, it hides a precise mechanism which must then generate emotion.”

“The world of Roger Dubuis, like spaces of freedom, perfectly matches my principles. You need to take chances in life. And always push yourself.”

Echoing his friend’s sentiments, Roger Dubuis CEO Georges Kern said: “Counting Gerard Butler among the brand’s friends is all the more special since this proximity is a natural fit with the world of Roger Dubuis. Gerard’s fire and powerful image resonate perfectly with the firm’s watches and will increase publicity amongst an audience who appreciate art and aesthetics.”
