For the brand’s MBFWA debut, Ixiah presented its Spring Summer 2014/15 collection titled “Paracosm”, an exotic offering of dresses (and some separates) in raw, neutral shades with pops of pastels — a throw back to the “neo-tribal” trend this label embodies each season.
Show notes referenced the Northern Lights as the line’s inspiration, a theme that was interpreted with a clever play on transparency and luminescence. Bright white worked with organic, earthy nude tones and rustic bronze metallics. The mini dresses were short and fitted, while the skirts on maxi dresses were loose, lightweight and swept the floor. Trending on the Ixiah runway were high necklines — dresses that were cut low were even accessorised with a stacked rope choker or chunky, beaded neck-piece. The holographic beadwork caused us to double take as it shone against hand-made tapestries and carefully-cut embroidery.
Designer Krystel Davis said the timing was perfect for Ixiah’s Fashion Week debut, “It was the right time for Ixiah to showcase on a global level, I couldn’t be happier with the overwhelmingly positive response to the show.”
