Bec & Bridge has all the cool-girl party dresses, because at Bec & Bridge everything is more fun. Whether it’s the denim-look blues reinerpreted into patchwork prints, the slithers of skin peeking through mesh panels, or the shimmering fabric updating little black dresses, the Spring Summer 2014/15 collection is brimming with fashion destined for dance-floors.
Designer Becky Cooper shared that the new season line is “About our girl being a nomad. A sensual and bohemian traveller who has traversed the globe and created her look over time.” Aptly named “Due North”, the collection interprets the traveller theme with chambray fabrics, shredded and hand-woven denim, as well as a raw, unhemmed finish to many of the looks. Despite the boho vibe, the Becky Cooper promised the collection doesn’t forget the quintessential Bec & Bridge girl, saying “Over all the collection has a more artisan, natural feel to it. Though, the collection does still embody so much of the signature Bec & Bridge handwriting. . . The infamous body dress shape has taken on a whole new look this season.”
It was dusty, powder-blue dresses and midriff-baring white minis that gave the label its girly feel. Also in the trend mix were black and white pinstripes, which splashed garments that also played with proportion. Think wide-leg pants slashed high for a cropped cut, and skirts of all lengths with asymmetric hemlines.
On the accessories front, mesh, peeptoe heeled booties let it be known loud and clear: no matter how strong the boho influence, this collection was most at home after hours.
