Lalique presents a collection that represents the strength, speed, and grace of the horse, in celebration of the upcoming Year of the Horse in 2014. The Horse astrological sign from the Zodiac calendar is depicted in the new collection through Lalique’s exquisitely crafted sculptures, vases and bowls. The highlights of the equestrian collection include the Horse’s Head sculpture in black crystal, limited edition Equus Vase, 2 Wild Horses Sculpture, Gold Lustre Mustang Vase and Gold Lustre Kazak Horse Sculpture.
The Horse Head is made from one single block of black crystal and demonstrates the exceptional know-how of Lalique’s master glass workers. These craftsmen carve the piece by hand during a period of more than three days and then polish it for long hours until the crystal is fixed in an intense and shimmering obscurity.
At 38 cm tall, the Equus Vase is handcrafted with 5 wild horses and a couple horse. A symbol of love, success, unity, and strength it is a masterpiece that requires skilful sculptors to sculpt the 3D detail over2 days. Limited to only 999 pieces, the Equus Vase is an exceptional piece of art that requires seven glassmakers, five gatherings, five days of annealing, 50 percent rejection and 30 kg of crude crystal used to complete a 13.8kg sculpture.
The 2 Wild Horses Sculpture depicts two wild horses reared up, whirling around and enjoying their freedom. Imagine the earth trembling and flying out from beneath their hooves while their manes are gracefully sculpted by the wind.
The Mustang Vase has always been incredibly popular, and now since 2014 is the Chinese Year of the Horse, it has been produced in Gold Lustre.
In celebration of 2014 – the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac – Lalique presents the Kazak Horse sculpture in Gold Lustre capturing the beauty of the animal in mid-run.
