The Walig Hut is perched in the Swiss Alps and is the most expensive hut in the world with prices starting at £1,018 per night.

Owned and managed by the Gstaad Palace Hotel, the hut was built in 1786 and was used by farmers for centuries. It has since been carefully restored by the hotel – though it still remains as rustic as ever.

Offering panoramic views of the Swiss Alps, features includes a kitchen/diner, a separate dining area, a log fire and a bedroom with a large double bed. The retreat can sleep either two adults or two adults with two children.

The brainchild of Andrea Scherz (the third generation of his family to run the Gstaad Palace) the price includes a three course meal with wine and champagne.
