Edging out other competitors from around the globe to emerge as the only Asian to compete in the finals of the Belvedere Challenge is Singaporean bartender Steve Leong. After learning basic bartending at Loof, Steve honed his skills through study, engaging with bartenders from around the world, and by attending international master classes. He has since worked at Bar Stories and Bitters & Love, and now helms the bar at Tess Bar & Kitchen. Known as Diverging, the creation that has brought Steve to the finals of the Belvedere Challenge is a unique harmony of Belvedere Vodka, coffee-infused Becherovka and Dow’s Fine Tawny Port.
Between March 10 and April 12, bartenders showcased their skill and ingenuity in crafting cocktails through video submissions on the Belvedere Challenge website. The best 45 entries were selected, and these participants have gone on to compete in their respective semi-final regional heats in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. Upcoming, in a couple of weeks, the nine finalists will compete in the grand finale in London, on June 17, 18 and 19. The winner of the Belvedere Challenge will receive a dream vacation to Jamaica at the renowned GoldenEye Resort, one of the world’s most beautiful and notable luxury destinations.
