TAG Heuer recently hosted Academy Award Winning director, Ron Howard, at its flagship boutique in Ginza, Japan, for an exclusive cocktail and talk show. The director was in town to launch his latest film “Rush”, starring Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl. The “TAG Heuer Special Night” was held in recognition of TAG Heuer’s partnership with the film’s production team. The Swiss watch company worked together with Ron Howard and the film’s production team to recreate the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing.
The “TAG Heuer Special Night” was hosted by Japanese actress and singer Sumire (wearing a TAG Heuer Formula 1 Ladies ’watch), who presented a special limited edition TAG Heuer Carrera “Fuji Speedway” to the Hollywood film director. The special edition timepiece commemorates the last scene of the film.
“To make this film RUSH, I wanted to describe legendary rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt in 1976 F1 Grand Prix season by accurately recreating the glamorous golden age of Formula 1 in the 1970s. To do so, supports from various brands, from formula car to dresses, were essential, and TAG Heuer is one of the brands which helped my film making the most accurate.” said Ron Howard, who was wearing his favored TAG Heuer watch Carrera 1887.
