Wu Bai posing with his artwork at the Leica Singapore boutique
Leica Singapore boutique is currently hosting an exhibit by a surprising star photog – Taiwanese rocker Wu Bai. This also marks the first time the reclusive musician’s works have been shown outside of Taiwan.
Titled “More Earth”, Singapore is the first stop for what has been planned as a travelling photography exhibition, slated to make its rounds across South East Asia. As can be gleaned from its title, the artworks aim to raise awareness of both ecological issues as well as the sheer beauty of Earth herself.
Photography buffs will be interested to know that Wu Bai’s photographs were shot entirely with the Leica M6 and M7, using the 28mm f/2 M Summicron lens. As a token of appreciation from Leica, Mr Sunil Kaul, Managing Director of Leica Camera Asia Pacific, presented Wu Bai with a special edition camera, the Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium.
The DLux 5 Titanium makes its regional debut in Singapore and will be rolled out across neighbouring countries in the coming months. As for the exhibit itself, fourteen black-and-white prints are currently on display in the gallery. Selected prints of Wu Bai’s photography will also be sold at the Leica Store at Raffles Hotel Arcade.
The exhibition runs till 2 December 2011. Opening hours are from 10.00am to 8.00pm, and admission is free.
