US singer, actress and former supermodel Jerry Hall is selling a few prominent pieces from her art collection including a portrait by Lucian Freud and an Andy Warhol.
Reportedly a way of letting go of her past, in Freud’s portrait Hall is eight months pregnant with her fourth child, Gabriel. It was painted in 1997 after the artist met her at a dinner party.
Another highlight of the auction is Warhol’s “Dollar Sign” which he gave Hall for helping him produce his television show, Warhol TV. Also falling under the hammer are works by Frank Auerbach, Robert Graham, Damien Hirst, David Bailey and R. B. Kitaj.
Hall said of the sale: “I think it’s about letting go of the past. At a certain age you just want to get rid of things. It’s good to be in the moment and change. I’m not afraid of change.”
In total 14 works are being sold and are expected to fetch $2.3 million when they are sold by Sotheby’s on October 15-16.
