This is actually my favorite track of Imagine Dragons‘ debut album “Night Visions”. The song starts with a strong focus on Dan Reynolds’ vocals, and the lyrics take the forefront.
Throughout the song, the drums for the most part are only used during the chorus and the bridge, but it’s enough to give the song a clear climax and doesn’t distract from the deep lyrics. “No matter what we breed, We still are made of greed, This is my kingdom come.”
This song is about the internal struggle of the demons inside and the desire to push away the ones you love so that you won’t end up hurting them.
