It was not hard to see that with his debut, fall-winter 2015 womenswear collection at Gucci, newly instated creative director Alessandro Michele aimed to take the label in a different direction. The more mature and sexy look of Giannini’s Gucci woman was gone and instead replaced with a younger, lighter approach.
Relaxed, pajama inspired suiting took over the runway as well as pleated skirts and airy dresses. Michele featured plenty of sheer and fur stylings for autumn. Paired with berets, fur-adorned slippers and oversized glasses; the Gucci woman is reborn as a girl who has a penchant for nostalgia.
Only time will tell if this new direction is what the brand needs in this era.
