Nicole Kow, a Marketing Manager by day and Crafter & Entrepreneur by night. Self-proclaimed shopaholic and shoe junkie who loves fashion and creating, is also the Owner and founder of Rouge Nikita. She’s truly Multi-faceted – While her feminine side is all about girly things like fashion and shopping, I have a boyish side with my attention for Xbox games and cars.
What would you like our readers to know about you?
I’m working in a build & design firm in the marketing department but as my passion is fashion, I’ve turned my hobby into a little business when I created Rouge Nikita. It’s my artistic domain or outlet that I combine my love for fashion, shopping and creating.
Describe yourself as best as you can with 6 adjectives.
We love your blog, do tell us more about it.
My online boutique Rouge Nikita is a place that I combine my love for fashion, shopping and creating. Rouge Nikita is an online boutique dedicated to unique clothing and accessories. From fun to elegant, Rouge Nikita carries an array of specially sourced and in-house designed and crafted pieces.
With my prior experience in the field of fashion but more so just pure passion, the Rouge Nikita brand understands that it takes more than wearing labels to stand out of the crowd. Instead its unique, edgy in-trend pieces that express your individual style. And what better with Rouge Nikita’s Red Label of exclusively designed pieces to make heads turn.
For the fashion forward femme fatale who mixes edge with a tinge of sophistication, Rouge Nikita will have you dressed to kill for any occasion be it day or night.
My blog on the other hand, is a place I post images which I draw inspiration from. There is a big portion of images I come around while surfing that catch my eye which I post up. And tilting towards fashion, I blog about my daily outfit picks, my shopping escapades which I tend to go overboard sometimes (self-professed shopaholic), my shoe addictions, events as well as my travels. There is something about travel photography that I gravitate to so I usually carry my trusty DSLR along with my during those journeys and now with my Iphone it’s pics galore.
I feel fashionable/sexy when….
I’m in black with sky high heels! Haha! I always say my default colour is black so it’s been an essential part of my style. And heels instantly dress up an outfit so that’s a must-have!
What or Who are your biggest fashion influences?
Brand wise, it would be Chanel’s classic and elegant style while Balmain’s statement pieces of structure and accents give the right amount of edginess.
People wise, would be people like Angelina Jolie’s regal and sophisticated red carpet style, Victoria Beckham’s form-fitting fashion choices that makes her look great all the time and Kate Lanphear effortlessly chic style.
What do you predict will be the next big fashion trend?
The Great Gatsby 1920s trend of stylish drop waist dresses. There was something about that era with fashion that can be awfully enticing.
What do you think of Singaporean men’s Style?
It wouldn’t be fair to stereotype Singaporean men’s style as a whole, but with the weather here being all hot and humid, it’s not easy to spot too many versatile stylish guy trends but it is definitely refreshing to see a guy who takes the time to look good and knows what works for him.
What are some of your fashion essentials?
Little Black Dress, Skinny Jeans, V-neck Tees, Razer-back singlets, Black Leggings, Leather Pants, Sky High Heels, Rugged Boots, Ray Ban Aviators and lots of layering bracelets and rings.
What are 3 of your must haves in your bag?
1. Iphone 4S – I’m utterly obsessed with it! It’s my first Iphone and it keeps me occupied throughout the day.
2. Wallet – I shop quite a bit so money and my cards are essential.
3. Shades – My little fashion accessory I can’t do without.
Humour – Laughter is the best medicine and that means he can easily lighten up a situation and that he doesn’t take himself too seriously.
Style – A guy who takes the time to look good, probably appreciates a little fashion in his life that means he understands a woman’s soft-spot for shopping.
Ease – Someone who is comfortable in his own skin and in return gives people an ease to be themselves around him.
Sincerity – Nothing beats a guy who is good and honest towards himself and the people around him.
What do you think is sexy in the same sex?
Confidence without appearing bitchy or narcissistic, she just exudes an aura.
What are some of your personal beauty tips & regimes?
Wash, tone, moisturize. I do the basic essentials and it’s agreed with my skin thus far.
As for makeup, my top 5 things – foundation, eyebrow powder kit, bronzer, tinted gloss and eyeliner. A great black eyeliner especially is so essential. I just recently switched to Makeup Forever Aqua Cream Liner and I love it! I can line my eyes without looking like a Panda by the end of the day. A little pricy but so worth it!
What are some of your indulgences?
Chocolate, ice cream and waffles but my absolute must-have is my afternoon cup of tea.
Being a self-proclaimed shopaholic – I gravitate to clothes, accessories but most of all shoes! I’m trying to cut down on shoes but it’s tough!
I could never bring myself to wear real fur… I have a soft spot for animals. Synthetic fur still allows you to look fashionable without the guilt.
Which fashion store could you spend the whole day in?
Honestly it’s hard to pick just one. I totally go gaga when shopping in Bangkok. There is just not enough days. Just love the hunt at every turn. I also love Jeffrey Campbell shoes so heading to Villains SF is a must when I’m there.
Where do you see yourself 3 years from now?
Living a fulfilled life and getting closer to achieving the dreams I’ve set out for myself.
