One of England’s most famous addresses, Chatsworth Estate, is auctioning off an incredible collection of its treasures.
Owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, the pieces range from art to furniture, and from architectural features to silverware, while their estimated value stretches from £20-£300,000.
The 20,000 lots have decorated the lives of the Devonshire family as well as their houses including Chatsworth itself, Hardwick Hall, Chiswick House, Lismore Castle (in Ireland), Compton Place, Bolton Abbey, and what was once their magisterial London abode – Devonshire House.
Many of the items belonged and were used by the beloved Georgiana Cavendish, the fifth Duchess of Devonshire, who was recently played by Keira Knightley in the film ‘The Duchess’.
The sale will be hosted by Sotheby’s from October 5-7.
