The Macallan released their latest creation, The Macallan M-Decanter, at an event in Hong Kong in May 2013. Over 800 distinguished guests attended the exclusive, global unveiling including socialites, celebrities, and whisky enthusiasts.
The M-Decanter, a collaboration between famed creative director Fabien Baron, France crystal master Lalique, and The Macallan Single Malt, is a uniquely hand-crafted 6-facet decanter to celebrate the 6 Pillars, the tenet in the making of the highly regarded single malt, upheld since 1824. Only 1750 crystal decanters are available worldwide. The name of the luxury spirit, M, was inspired by the geometric, angular shape of the character ‘M’.
Guests experienced an exciting dinner line-up where the Hong Kong Sinfonietta performed works from Tchaikovsky and Johann Strauss Jr., followed by a thoughtfully designed menu, again to exemplify the 6 Pillars. Jaume Ferras Santin, the global marketing manager of The Macallan, led the guests through each of the courses to pair perfectly with a fitting single malt of the 15 Year Fine Oak, 17 Year Fine Oak, 21 Years Old Fine Oak, and completed with the Peerless Spirit from The M-Decanter, aged 100% from European sherry casks.
The M-Decanter was unveiled during the dinner with majestic presentation to descend it under a spectacular light show onto the platform, signifying the coronation of a royalty fair. The meticulous craftsmanship was admired by guests who later attended an exclusive after-party.
The Macallan M-Decanter decanters are available on a global basis from June 2013.
