Spink held its inaugural fine wine auction in Hong Kong on March 8 to overwhelming success. A rare bottle of Remy Martin Louis XIII Rare Cask cognac went under the hammer for a whopping HK $183,000.
Never seen before on the Hong Kong market, the covetable bottle is one of 786 bottles drawn from a special cask comprising 1,200 eaux de vie from Grand Champagne. The cask was identified by Cellar Master Pierrette Tricket in 2004 and launched in 2009.
A total of 380 lots were on offer at the sale, including two bottles of Louis XIII from the 1970s, a bottle of Hennessy Paradis, also from the 1970s, and a Tattinger collection that encompasses nine vintages from 1978-1992.
The sale follows Spink’s recent acquisition of Oeno China, a fine wine auction business based in Hong Kong.
