Single malt whisky maker The Macallan introduced a completely new family of single malts, The Macallan 1824 Collection, to Singapore’s Changi Airport. This collection was developed specifically for the duty free market place at key travel retail outlets and is already available in the Americas and Europe.
The 1824 Collection consists of four superb single malts that retail for between 46 and 1,450 euros: Select Oak, Whisky Maker’s Edition, Estate Reserve and 1824 Limited Release.
Master Whisky Maker John Ramsay (for The Macallan’s owners, the Edrington Group) and The Macallan’s own Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno distilled their (collective) 50 years of experience to create the 1824 Collection.
Fittingly, the collection has already won rave reviews including a score of 94.5 percent from Jim Murray (whisky expert and author of The Whisky Bible) for the Select Oak and a 97.5 percent score for the 1824 Limited Release decanter. In fact, Murray called this expression “one of the greatest whiskies ever created.”
For Singapore, the 1824 Limited Release Decanter is available from October 2009.
