This year’s SIHH was chock-a-block with lavish parties feting the very best of the horological world: take IWC Schaffhausen, for instance, who organized a gala bash in honor of their latest Pilot’s Watch Top Gun range.
High-profile friends of the fine Swiss manufacture turned up in droves at the red carpet – spotted mingling among the crowd were A-list stars like power couple Anita Yuen and Julian Cheung, as well as gorgoeus supermodel Adriana Lima, the regal Cate Blanchett and the dashing Ewan McGregor.
An astonishing 1,000 guests gathered aboard a replica aircraft carrier IWC 12, the spectacular backdrop a reference to the newly launched Pilot’s Watches from IWC, the Top Gun and Top Gun Miramar formations, sturdy timepieces dedicated to the elite military flying school.
“Our aim this evening was to create an emotional experience for our guests, based on the story of our Pilot’s Watches, a story that started in 1936 with the Special Pilot’s Watch and has been part of IWC Schaffhausen’s DNA ever since,” said IWC CEO Georges Kern, who was the host for the evening.
To mark the launch of the new Pilot’s Watch family, IWC presented a gripping film dedicated to the intricate engineering, craftsmanship and precision that go into the new Top Gun timepieces. The short film cleverly interweaves animation from the Pilot’s Watch fleet with training sequences from the Top Gun flying school, which has served as the inspiration for the Pilot’s Watch family since 2006.
