Hilton Hotels scored big at the World Travel Awards 2009 – hailed by The Wall Street Journal as the “Oscars” of the travel industry – as its two properties Hilton Kuala Lumpur and Hilton Beijing Wangfujing collected multiple awards at the London gala awards ceremony.
Hilton KL bagged the title of Asia’s Leading City Hotel and Asia’s Leading Design Hotel, adding to two other awards it had received earlier at the TTG Travel Awards and Best of Malaysia Awards this year.
“We are extremely grateful for the recognition we have received here at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, both at the national and international level, and look forward to welcoming more guests to come and experience the world class service Hilton has to offer,” said William Costley, General Manager of Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, sister property Hilton Beijing Wangfujing was named World’s Leading Lifestyle Hotel for the second year running, and also collected three regional awards – Asia’s Leading City Resort, Asia’s Leading Lifestyle Hotel, and China’s Leading City Resort.
Nils-Arne Schroeder, General Manager of Hilton Beijing Wangfujing said of the hotel’s quadruple triumph: “With winning the World’s Lifestyle Award for the second year in a row, we are committed to raise the benchmark of operational excellence and further tailor our services to meet the business and leisure needs of increasingly sophisticated travelers.”
Over 1,000 senior professionals and key decision makers from the global travel industry attended the prestigious awards ceremony, with the awards decided from votes cast by more than 183,000 travel professionals from over 160 countries.
