China Group Buys Swiss Watchmaker Corum

Swiss watchmaker Corum announced at the start of BaselWorld 2013 that it had been acquired by Haidian Holdings Limited, a Chinese group that already owns another storied name, Eterna.

News sources are reporting that this is the first time a haute horlogerie watchmaker has been bought by a Chinese firm and have listed a price of CHF86 million for 100 percent of Corum’s shares. Corum CEO Antonio Calce expressed confidence that Haidian was the right partner to move Corum forward; Calce retains his position under Haidian.
