Chanel‘s spellbinding Autumn-Winter presentation was replete with references to the monumental natural phenomenon of mineral and gem formation.
Karl Lagerfeld’s paean to the organic grandeur of the Earth’s crystals and stones, the Autumn-Winter show setting itself, which you’ll observe in the video below, was like a magical underground cave, with immense blocks of uncut amethyst and milky opaque quartz standing like silent monoliths on the glimmering white runway of the Grand Palais.
The mineral rock theme was literally worked into the fabric itself, with the wool pieces being woven through with a subtle metallic thread, and coated cotton imbued with glistening slivers of high-tech Lurex.
Rough-cut stones can be found lining the ornately embellished collars, on cuffs, belts and jewelry. The shoes and booties were a particular standout, with the heel made of a quartz-like clear acrylic and adorned with glinting crystal offshoots at the top. Watch the gorgeous looks in motion in Chanel’s Autumn-Winter presentation below. Enjoy!
