21 year old, Aimee Millward, who is in her final year at University of Wolverhampton studying Fine Art, has been selected to be Guiltyvine’s ‘Artist in Season’ after entering a competition earlier this year.
The 21 year old entered an open competition with fashion company Guiltyvine which provided an opportunity for aspiring designers to get their artwork printed on the company’s spring and summer menswear collection for 2015.
Guiltyvine is a contemporary menswear brand which offers high quality menswear with a heavy focus on wearable wardrobe essentials, stripped back timeless classics and artistic appreciation.
The University’s course leader in fine art, Maggie Ayliffe, alerted her students about the fashion competition. She said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for Aimee, and quite extraordinary to see her paintings transformed into designer clothes!
“On the Fine Art course at the University of Wolverhampton, students are encouraged from the beginning to develop their own projects and individual ways of working – it is exciting to see a design company pick up on the potential of Aimee’s very distinct painting agenda as contemporary print”.
After sending the company examples of her creative portfolio, Guiltyvine selected the young artist as their ‘Artist in Season.’
Aimee, from Dudley said: “I could not believe it when I was selected as Guiltyvine’s ‘Artist in Season.’ The thought of my paintings out there on clothes is just so exciting and surreal – I don’t think it has sunk in yet!
“Having my artwork showcased in London and Paris is truly unbelievable! I’ve just got my fingers crossed that the collection will be a success and will lead my artwork in new directions.”
Prints from Aimee’s paintings have been showcased in Guiltyvine’s current collection during the recent fashion events held in London and Paris.
The talented art student hopes to be a practicing artist after University and aims to continue showcasing her work on an international scale.
