Certified health coach, TV presenter and top model, Rachael Finch wears many hats. If you’re from Down Under, Rachael is hard to miss, especially since she is one of Australia’s most popular media personalities. A certified health coach, she enjoys a good skipping workout, and believes good nutrition is key to staying fit. The mother-of-one has also recently launched a range of healthy juices, which she co-created. With so much going on in her life, one must wonder, how exactly does she manage to stay focused and on track? We figure a well-deserved holiday is essential. Of course, just because you’re on vacation, it doesn’t mean you should let go completely and adopt the demeanour of a lazy couch potato. Here’s where Rachael Finch has got you covered as a new Westin Well-being brand advocate. She shares with us some of her tips on how to stay dynamic even when on holiday.

SLEEP WELL

I always try to get at least seven hours of sleep a night, by making time management a priority so I can get in bed earlier. Try magnesium as a natural ingredient to promote restful sleep patterns. It also calms your nerves and muscles. Apply lavender oil to your wrists and soles of your feet. Studies have shown that lavender has soothing and sedative properties, all to aid in a restful slumber.

Rachael is on to something with the use of magnesium. It helps with a  wide array of biological functions like activating muscles and nerves, creating energy in your body by activating adenosine triphosphate, helping digest proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Last but not least it also serves as a precursor for neurotransmitters like serotonin.

Power Boost Blend

Here’s another delicious way of getting your vitamins:

Tropical Green Smoothie

Blend two cups baby spinach, one cup coconut yoghurt, one cup fresh pineapple chunks, half a cup of fresh mango chunks and one tablespoon chia seeds with a little water until smooth.

WORK WELL

Research proves that cramped spaces restrict creativity. Try scheduling brainstorming sessions in spacious rooms with windows that let in natural light. If you’re at Westin, make use of the Clutter-Free Meeting station. Not only is it eco-friendly with energy-efficient light bulbs and water pitchers, you get an open, streamlined space that’ll inspire fresh thinking.

FEEL WELL

Get back to your best self with a spa. The blissful pampering will uplift you mentally and physically, giving you better quality sleep and leave you feeling refreshed. Get a massage. Ask the concierge to recommend a good spa in the local area, or, if you’re staying with a Westin hotel take advantage of their in-room service.

Relax and revitalize in the comfort and privacy of your own hotel room with the Westin brand’s custom-designed in-room spa services. To help create a soothing atmosphere, Westin will provide you with its signature spa basket containing flowers, a nutritious snack, a bottle of water, music and aromatherapy oils. Recline on your own luxurious Heavenly Spa Bed, and enjoy personalized body and mind rejuvenation.

PLAY WELL

Find time to attend a live concert. The rush you feel in that electric atmosphere elevates your mood and offers you a lasting high. Let the informed concierge tip you off on who’s playing in town, when you stay with The Westin Sydney. A little recreation daily helps balance the stress of a busy life. Some seek thrill and action while others welcome a good read. Find the right hobby and delight in the things you enjoy.

We like Rachael’s tip on attending a live concert. If you’re lucky, one of your favourite bands might be having a gig during your stay. Why wait for them to get around to playing in your own country of origin (which may take a few months) when you can make your vacation that much more special by catching them live?

MOVE WELL

To overcome jetlag, run the city. No gear? The Westin Gear Lending program lets you pack light while staying fit. Use your hotel’s gym – Westin’s WORKOUT Fitness Studio is open 24/7 to fit your schedule. Don’t let bad weather affect your fitness regime. Try indoor skipping as a cardio workout that will tone your entire body from thighs, butt, calves, shins, arms to stomach. To keep yourself motivated, be specific with your fitness goals, e.g. Increase push up reps by five for each set. To encourage yourself further, find an aspirational picture to put up – a picture of yourself in a dress you want to get back into is sure to get you moving.
