Preferred Hotels & Resorts has announced its first member in Taipei, the Palais de Chine Hotel.

Mark Simmons, area managing director – Asia, Preferred Hotel Group, said: “Unique by design and with a distinct creative flair, Palais de Chine Hotel is a showcase of how an upscale independent hotel can really differentiate themselves from a chain property.”

“Taipei is an important city for us as we continue to grow in key gateway locations in Asia, and we are thrilled to have our first Preferred Hotel Group member in Taiwan represented by Palais de Chine in our premium brand, Preferred Hotels & Resorts.”

Combining French and Asian styling, the hotel is within walking distance of the night markets, Ximending, Longshang Temple, and Museum of Contemporary Art.

The 286 rooms are equipped with a specially developed E-Butler service, allowing guests to control air-conditioning, lighting, and music; view monthly-updated free movies on-demand; and check airport and railway schedules.

As far as dining is concerned the hotel offers a French-inspired grill restaurant with a wood-fired oven, a Cantonese restaurant, a European-themed teahouse, and a lounge bar.

Meanwhile facilities include a fitness centre, outdoor pool, Paris Opera–inspired ballroom, and four function rooms.
