Piaget has been named the official timekeeper of the second Beijing International Polo Open Tournament.
Scheduled to be held on September 23, the tournament will be hosted at the Beijing Sunny Times Polo Club and will see Piaget sponsor the Chinese team as well as perform its duties as timekeeper. China will be competing against visiting teams from Australia, Chile and New Zealand.
The brand’s long-standing history with the sport dates back to the early 80s when its fourth generation heir, Mr. Yves G. Piaget, fell in love with the equine game. The brand has since sponsored Palm Beach Polo and the Polo World Cup.
Famously, Piaget has also produced a polo watch collection, and to commemorate the upcoming event the brand has given one of its Polo FortyFive timepiece to Yang Xia, the Executive Director of Polo Committee of Chinese Equestrian Association.
Spanning 45mm (a reference to the 45 minutes it takes to play a polo match) the watches in the Piaget Polo Collection comprise the Piaget Polo FortyFive Automatic (above), Piaget Polo FortyFive Chronograph, Piaget Polo FortyFive Automatic 2010 Edition, and the Piaget Polo FortyFive Lady which comes in pink or white gold and covers 38mm.
